About
Hi, I’m Karen and this year I turn 50. I was 40 when my life imploded. I’d spent 4 years on a low carb diet and I was a mess. I had terrible insomnia and the worst anxiety ever. I was too exhausted to move but too wired/anxious to sit still. Through a series of fortunate events I was introduced to Billy Craig and then to Dr. Ray Peat’s work. It took a while for me to make any sense of it. Then it took a long time for me to be able to read his newsletters or articles without freaking out and thinking that the stuff I was doing, or the state that my body was in, was going to kill me. Over the last 9 years there have been good times (with some improvements) and absolute horror shows! A few years back (when I realised it was going to take a while to get better & that there are no quick fixes or magic bullets) I thought to myself that it would be nice to feel better by the time I was 50. Well this year I turn 50 and I am indeed starting to feel better.
As I have no intention of fading away into old age (& blaming all my problems on getting old 🤣) I’ve started lifting weights, doing flexibility exercises and still eat nutrient dense food. This blog enables me to share my journey into 50 and beyond, and if it helps even one person feel better (or entertains someone) then my work here is done!
