What's a cheesecake without a biscuity base?

Sometimes (most of the time!) I'm a great believer in leaving the past where it belongs - in the past. This is mainly because I've done a lot of silly things in the past! I don't lose any sleep over  them because they've made me who I am today, but still, as I said, they are often best forgotten about!

Today my ex phoned me to see how I was and during the conversation  he asked where his cheesecake  was.  Weird without context I know! I had in fact told him that I would be making lemon cheesecake and that I would drop some round for him. Then promptly forgot! So I was joking about forgetting and then he suddenly says
'Didn't we have a phase where the cheesecake had to be made without the base?'
'Mmmm' I say in response.
'Then didn't we have a phase where it was made with almond stuff instead?'
'Almond flour'  I say and start to laugh! 'Yes, I did a lot of silly things, do we need to talk about them all?'

We laughed because, well, let's  face it, it's pretty funny (and borderline ridiculous!). I went to so much effort to cook 'low carb' and 'healthy' stuff it was unreal. I had a cookbook (the name escapes me but if I remember it I'll share it with you so you can give it a wide berth!!) where most things were made with either coconut flour, almond flour, egg whites, flax seed, or a  combination of them all! Yum! Thank goodness I can laugh about it now, and yes, my lemon cheesecake now has a  lovely buttery, biscuity base! The kids love it and normality (for us!) is restored.

Learning to laugh about  ridiculous , embarrassing behaviour or silly mistakes in your past is not always easy to do, but it definitely seems to me the best way to move forward and let go of the past. Let's face it, I would have had an awful lot to worry about if I couldn't laugh about it! I have done so many ridiculous things, and my  ex, or my sister, or my friends, or my kids (it's a long list!!) always like to remind me of them. I actually love that my silly, embarrassing behaviour makes people laugh. I'm like a comedian who doesn't have to  worry about writing any material!  There are worse things to do in life than make people laugh!

This is just one example of the many silly instances (I'm sure I'll be sharing more!) that my ex likes to remind me of. I like to remind him that no one's perfect! It's much healthier to look forward than to look back, but if you do look back then laughter is definitely the best medicine .  I hope you've enjoyed my ramblings and if you have any funny, embarrassing, or downright silly stories to share (any topic) then I'd love to hear them. Pop them in the comments below. It's good to share don't you know :-)
